Honda remain hopeful of competing in 2009

The Honda Formula One team said it was optimistic about its chances of competing in the 2009 World Championship after Nick Fry, the company's CEO, confirmed three prospective buyers had expressed an interest in taking control of the team.

Lewis Hamilton secured the 11th pole position of his Formula One career ahead of tomorrow's Belgian Grand Prix. The world championship leader produced a stunning display around the Spa-Francorchamps circuit to leave Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen, his title rivals, in his wake. Hamilton clinched top spot on the grid with a lap of 1min 47.338sec for his fifth pole of the year, with Massa on the front row, but more than 0.3secs down.

Aug.4 (GMM) The ambient temperature at the Hungaroring is most likely to blame for the small fires during pitstops on Sunday. Small fires blighted the pitstops of Honda's Rubens Barrichello and Williams' Kazuki Nakajima, while Sebastien Bourdais had fiery moments during two of his stops on Sunday and even had to stop again so Toro Rosso mechanics could clean fire extinguisher foam from his visor.
